We purchased this vintage gal in 2022 and made the choice to keep most of her finishes original. She has the best original bathroom wallpaper (Peter Max?)! She is 31 feet long with twin beds, a rear bath and has plenty of space for multiple people to enjoy. She was manufactured during the time that Airstreams were of the highest quality, and it shows. Although she is easy to tow, we have been thoroughly enjoying her on our property in Johnson City, TX.

The original wood grain finish is rich and warm and in great shape for her age. The appliances are original and in working order (including a newer microwave oven). The table folds in and out perfectly and the jack knife sofa folds out to a bed. All of the cabinets and storage on the inside and out are all in working order.

From a cosmetic perspective, we replaced all the things that were dusty and tattered and kept the rest in place to enjoy pure 1978 goodness. We replaced the flooring, the upholstery on the original jack knife sofa (including new foam cushions), the fabric panels above the bed, the 2 twin mattresses, the window shades. We used high quality fabric from Calico Fabric and had Ambrose Upholstery out of Austin sew all the fabric for the cushions and panels. Our intention from a design perspective was to keep it as close to 1978 as possible. *We also saved a bedspread in case future owner wants to use it as a pattern.

From an infrastructure perspective, we hired a professional Airstream repair and renovation company called Rivet Restoration out of San Marcos, TX to bring her up to speed. Rivet replumbed the freshwater system with PEX, repaired a leak in the freshwater tank and replaced the inline water basket/filter. They replaced the shower diverter, and the kitchen, shower and bathroom sink fixtures. Rivet installed a new air conditioner (mfg. Dometic). They replaced 3 roof vents and installed a new ceiling fan (Fan-Tastic Vent RV Roof Vent with Thermostat). Rivet also repaired and fixed a small leak on the LP gas tanks. We purchased 5 new tires (4 plus a spare). Rivet installed the tires and put in four new backing plates for the breaks. We have continued to update and improve a few smaller things ourselves.

This gal comes with 2 new marine batteries, new sewer/septic tank hoses, 2 new twin mattresses, high thread count RV twin bed sheets and an original Airstream chair (to go with the fold out table). Plus there are several additional RV plug converters and accessories. The water pump works great, the electric jack is also great and we have the original 1978 Airstream manual. We have a clean title and her registration is up to date.

There are a few known things that could be repaired or not - as she is perfectly capable of heading out for new adventures. We will share with you what we know and the things that could be improved.
